The battle for Shohei Ohtani (29) is reaching its climax. However, it’s going to be a while before we see a final deal for Ohtani. The same is true for Yoshinobu Yamamoto (25).
The New York Post reported on Friday that both Ohtani and Yamamoto will not be signed during the MLB Winter Meetings.굿모닝토토 주소
Earlier, MLB.com, the official website of Major League Baseball, predicted on March 3 that Ohtani’s contract would be signed in the next seven to 10 days.
This means that Ohtani’s contract will be finalized between the 10th and 13th. The Winter Meetings last from April 4 to 7, so no signings will be made during the Winter Meetings.
Ohtani has already received offers in the low $500 million range from multiple teams. This makes a $600 million deal more likely.
The Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, and Toronto Blue Jays remain the most likely suitors for Ohtani. The Atlanta Braves are also reportedly in the mix.
It was also reported late last month that Yamamoto would take his time making a final decision. Yamamoto has until January 5, 2024 to make his decision. That’s plenty of time.
Yamamoto is one of the biggest names in pitching this free agency, with the New York Mets, New York Yankees, and Los Angeles Dodgers among the favorites to sign him.
