Ha-Sung Kim’s (San Diego Padres) teammate Blake Snell has been named the National League Cy Young Award winner for the 2023 season.
MLB.com announced the winners of the American League and National League Cy Young Awards on Saturday.
Snell, who went 14-9 with a 2.25 ERA in 32 games in 2023, received 28 of 30 first-place votes, edging out Logan Webb (San Francisco Giants) and Zach Gallon (Arizona Diamondbacks) for the honor.
Snell, who won the Cy Young Award five years ago in 2018 with the Tampa Bay Rays, becomes the seventh pitcher in history to win the award in both major leagues.레모나토토 도메인
Snell is joined by Roger Clemens, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, Gaylord Perry, Roy Halladay, and Max Scherzer as some of the greatest pitchers of all time.
Snell also became San Diego’s fifth Cy Young Award-winning pitcher in 16 years and first since Jake Peavy in 2007.
Snell, who is eligible for free agency after the season, could see his stock rise further with a Cy Young Award.
In the American League, New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole took home the Cy Young Award.
Cole started 33 games this year, going 15-4 with a 2.63 ERA. Although the Yankees missed the postseason, the struggling Cole was a unanimous Cy Young winner.
He is the sixth Yankees pitcher to win the award, and the first in 22 years since Roger Clemens in 2001.
Cole, who broke into the big leagues in 2013, finished second in the 2019 and 2021 Cy Young Award voting, and finally broke through this year in his 11th year.
