Maguire left Leicester City in 2019 to join United in what was then the highest transfer fee ever for a defender.
Maguire’s early days at United weren’t bad. He made his presence felt with flashes of brilliance and was even handed the captain’s armband.
However, his form gradually declined and he was criticized for his sub-par performances. This led to him being labeled as United’s worst 11 and worst signing of all time.
Maguire was still unable to rise above the competition. He no longer has a place at United. He was included in the list of players to be sold in this summer’s transfer window. Stripped of his captaincy, he was considered a top priority.굿모닝토토 도메인
United focused on getting rid of Maguire, but it didn’t work and he stayed with the club.
Maguire’s recent form has changed. He’s been consistently given chances by manager Eric ten Hagg and has become the backbone of the defense again.
Most notably, he’s managed to beat out competition from world-class defender Rafael Varane.
Varane has earned the image of a world-class center back after enjoying numerous glories at Real Madrid. He then headed to Manchester United in the summer of 2021.
Baran has been a first-choice defender for the Red Devils, but things have not been going well for him lately. He’s lost his place to Harry Maguire.
Baran’s faltering form has led to transfer speculation as he is reported to be seriously considering an exit from United.
Some speculated that his lack of opportunities had led to a falling out with manager Eric ten Hagg, which he denied.
“There is no problem with Varane. Absolutely not,” he said.
“Maguire and Jonny Evans are doing a good job. It’s a tactical choice of partnership,” he said, explaining why Baran hasn’t been getting the opportunities of late.
“Maguire is doing very well. There’s an internal competition going on,” he said, adding that it’s natural for the better performer to get the nod.
“I had to take my time and be patient,” Maguire said. “I had my chances, and it was frustrating to get injured, and now I have a chance to prove it,” he smiles.
“I’m really enjoying my football. I love playing for United. We have the best center backs in the world and there is a lot of competition. But I’m determined to stay and fight for my place.”
