As Hyun-jin Ryu, 36, enters his second year of free agency, where will he end up?
New York Post Major League Baseball columnist John Heyman, along with two anonymous experts, analyzed the free agent market for starting pitchers on Wednesday (ET). He listed a total of 16 pitchers, and Ryu’s name was among them.굿모닝토토 도메인
Ryu was mentioned 15th out of 16. ”Ryu had a solid finish and will get a major league contract,” wrote John Heyman.
One expert projected a one-year, $13 million deal, another projected a one-year, $10 million deal plus incentives, and Heyman projected a one-year, $12 million deal.
Since returning from Tommy John surgery in June of last year, Ryu has gone 3-3 with a 3.46 ERA in 52 innings over 11 games. His velocity dropped after the surgery, but his command and command of his pitches remained the same.
This is what Ryu looked like in his comeback season after Tommy John surgery. It is believed that the second year of Tommy John surgery can be even better, so there are high hopes for Ryu’s performance next season.
The media seems to have recognized this as well. Earlier estimates were as low as $8 million, but John Heyman and other experts believe he’ll get more than $10 million.
Sports Illustrated (SI) analyzed three free agents the Angels should keep an eye on this offseason, and Ryu was the first to mention him.
This season, the Angels finished fourth in the American League (AL) West. “The Angels had a lackluster season, and while Idoryu superstar Shohei Ohtani may be on his way out, they want to build a winning team again next year,” the publication said, “and the best way to do that is to build a solid starting rotation. They have some great young players, but their value is yet to be proven. The Angels are expected to be active this winter.”
However, he stopped short of saying that the Angels “don’t want to sign any big contracts.”
“He’s been with the Toronto Blue Jays for four years. “He’s still a quality pitcher who can bring a good veteran presence to the Angels’ starting rotation. He won’t cost much and could be a good third or fourth starter for the team.”
