Sandro Tonali is set to receive a 10-month ban.
“Tonali will receive a 10-month ban and rehabilitation,” Italian outlet Sport Italia’s Alfredo Pedulla reported on social media on Thursday (April 24).
Despite his young age, Tonali is considered a “complete” midfielder and has become a mainstay at AC Milan. He has excellent ability on both sides of the ball, and most of his stats are high, including work rate, soccer intelligence, passing ability, and tactical understanding. His main position is defensive midfielder, but he is also capable of getting forward and joining the attack, and can play in the same role as Mezzarra.토토사이트
He made his mark before he turned 20. He spent the 2019-20 season with Brescia in Italy’s Serie A, scoring one goal and providing seven assists in 35 games before moving to AC Milan. As it was a move within the same league, there was no need for an adjustment period and Tonali immediately established himself as an integral part of AC Milan’s core. In 2020-21, he made 37 appearances, including a cup run, and in 2021-22, he scored five goals and provided three assists in the league alone. He was even more established in 2022-23, scoring two goals and providing 10 assists in 48 games, including cup competitions, as he developed into one of Serie A’s leading midfielders.
Then, last summer, he announced a move. Financially struggling AC Milan needed to sell Tonali to raise funds, and Newcastle United snapped him up for a staggering £100 million.
Tonali was up for the challenge of the Premier League (PL). The change in league didn’t seem to bother him, as he quickly found a place in Newcastle’s best 11 and became a regular starter. After a rocky start to the season, the Magpies began to climb the ladder, winning five, drawing one, and losing three of their first nine league games (16 points) to finish in sixth place, including a 4-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League (UCL).
But then bad news struck for Newcastle. Tonali is facing a 10-month suspension. Recently, Italian soccer has been hit by a gambling scandal. It involved Tonali, as well as Niccolo Zaniolo and Niccolo Pioli. An investigation was conducted against Tonali and he admitted to the charges. It’s still early in the season, and for Newcastle, with a lot of fixtures still to come, the absence of ‘key’ Tonali could have a big impact. They are considering the likes of Manchester City’s Calvin Phillips as a possible replacement.
