‘0-3 7-4’ 21.5 billion-solver upset blast! Dodgers pull off thrilling upset over Boston…10 wins in two years for Lance Lynn [LAD Review]

Boston didn’t stop there. With one out in the second, Tristan Casas led off with an infield single and Trevor Story followed with a run-scoring double to left. On a full count, he lined a 93.9-mph (151-kilometer) seven-pitch sinker from Lynn for his first home run of the season.

After being held scoreless against Boston starter Cutter Crope through five innings, the Dodgers’ offense woke up in the sixth. Mookie Betts led off with a double, Freddie Freeman singled to right to put runners on first and third, Will Smith doubled and Max Muncy followed with an infield single to pull within one. David Peralta then grounded out to second, but Kike Hernandez followed with an RBI single to center to tie the game at 3-3.

The Dodgers put runners on first and second with one out in the seventh after leadoff singles by Michael Bush and Mookie Betts. Freeman followed with an RBI double to tie the game, and after Smith grounded into a fielder’s choice, Muncy hit a two-run double to drive in the winning run.

The Red Sox got one run back in the seventh on a leadoff single by Verdugo, a walk to Rafael Devers and a throwing error by third baseman Muncy, but the damage was done.

The Dodgers added one more run in the bottom of the ninth on Peralta’s sacrifice fly with the bases loaded.

Dodgers starter Lynn improved to 10-9 on the season, allowing four runs (three earned) on 10 hits (two home runs) with one walk and one strikeout in six innings. It was his first 10-win season since 2021 with the Chicago White Sox. The offense was led by Freeman with four hits and Muncy with two hits and three RBIs.

For Boston, Crawford was tagged with the loss after allowing two runs on five hits and four walks with seven strikeouts in five innings, while Nick Pivetta took the loss after allowing two runs on four hits in two innings. Three hits from Reese Maguire and Verdugo and two hits each from Devers, Casas and Story highlighted the offense in the loss.
