‘Why not Lee Kang-In?’ Mbappe ‘back in first team’ after PSG stay “Man City MF signing request”

After Kylian Mbappe confirmed his stay at Paris Saint-Germain, it has been reported that he has asked the club to bring in a new player. The player has a number of overlapping positions with Lee Kang-in, making him a strong contender for his signature.온라인카지노

“After a very constructive and positive discussion between PSG and Mbappe, he returned to training for the first time in the morning,” PSG reported on its official social media accounts on Thursday.

The relationship between Mbappe and PSG had previously been frosty. With just one year left on his contract, which runs until June 2024, Mbappe had fallen out with the club after refusing to sign a contract extension and announcing his plans to leave on a free transfer.

PSG had initially held on to Mbappe ahead of the 2022/23 season, with Real swayed by offers, but in the current transfer window, they were quick to put the player up for sale after he made it clear he had no intention of extending his contract.

However, Mbappe rejected all offers and said he would remain at PSG. He also rejected a €700 million offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, and was not in talks to join Barcelona. More recently, it was reported that he would even reject an offer from Real Madrid this summer.

PSG have excluded their biggest star, Mbappe, from their Asian tour to Japan and South Korea, and recently appeared to erase him from all promotional posters and websites. Despite the move, Mbappe has been enjoying himself in training with players previously labelled as non-performers and hasn’t felt any transfer pressure.

Some local French media reported that PSG could take stronger action against Mbappe if he did not leave the club, such as banning him from first-team training, excluding him from selection, or removing him from the UEFA Champions League squad, and indeed PSG did exclude him from first-team training and then from the opening game against Lorient.

Then came the twist. PSG announced Mbappe’s return to first-team training via the club’s official account. According to reports, the return was made possible by PSG reaching out first.

According to France’s RMC Sport, “PSG is making every effort to change the current situation with Mbappe: “Mbappe, who has been sanctioned by PSG for the past few weeks, did not even play in the league opener, but the relationship between the two parties has been moving towards reconciliation in recent hours. PSG are trying to turn the situation around in any case.”

Besides the club, coach Luis Enrique has also weighed in. “Initially, Enrique publicly stated that he supported the management’s decision, but he nevertheless pushed internally for Mbappe’s return to the first team,” said French outlet L’Equipe. From the sidelines, Enrique expressed strongly that Mbappe could offer more solutions and provide the forward pressure that PSG lacked against Lorient. Enrique has high hopes for Mbappe and Dembele,” said a source close to the PSG hierarchy, who also met with Mbappe in person.

Photos of the first-team training ground released by PSG showed Mbappe being given a rousing welcome back by his teammates and coaches. Mbappe has yet to fully agree a contract extension with the club or a transfer window, but he is likely to be in the squad for the rest of the season. With Mbappe’s return, PSG will have a stronger attacking line-up with the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Gonzalo Higuain, and Lee Kang-In.

Mbappe’s return to the club has also been the subject of speculation, with reports suggesting that the Frenchman has requested a move to strengthen his squad.

“Mbappe is trying to bring in Bernardo Silva,” French outlet Onse Mundial reported on Thursday.

Manchester City midfielder Silva has been a firm favourite with City fans ever since he joined the club in 2017 and has been regarded as an integral part of the team. He has played all over the midfield, from the back three to the wings, and was one of the mainstays of City’s triple treble in the 2022/23 season, thanks to his excellent pressing, work rate, and incisive passing.

However, Silva has been linked with a move away from City in every recent transfer window. A move to Barcelona has been suggested ahead of the 2022/23 season, and this summer he has attracted interest from PSG and Saudi Arabia.

“Mbappe will push for Silva’s signature, he has good memories of him from his time with him at AS Monaco,” said Onse Mundial, confirming that Mbappe wants to sign Silva.

While Silva would be a great addition to PSG’s squad, it could be a bit of a negative for Lee, who joined PSG this summer.

Shortly after Lee’s arrival, French publication Le Parisien predicted PSG’s starting line-up for the 2023/24 season, stating that “PSG are considering Man City’s Bernardo Silva at right winger, with Kylian Mbappe at left winger and a new player in the centre of the front line.” Currently, newcomer Gonzalo Higuain has joined the frontline, and Silva could potentially play alongside Mbappe on both wings.

“The likes of Marco Asensio and Lee Kang-In are considered squad resources for rotation,” the outlet said, suggesting that Lee would be a rotational option in the front three rather than a starter or key player.

The competition for places is even tougher if Silva is replaced by Dembele, with Mbappe on both wings. In that case, Lee will have to look to play as a second option on the wing or in the centre of the park, whereas Silva can play anywhere from the wing to the centre of the park.

In a PSG midfield that has seen the likes of Manuel Ugarte and Cher N’Dour arrive this season, as well as younger options such as Weren Jaire Emery and Vitinha, it could be even harder for Lee to secure a place if he has to compete with Silva.

However, it’s not unlikely that Enrique will stick with Lee in the centre of the park or on the wing, as he’s struggled to make an impact up front since the opening day.

Against Lorient, Lee started on the right wing and showed on several occasions that his long, fluid dribbling allowed him to escape pressure, while also providing crucial passes for Asensio and Hamuth and a sharp shot.

Substituted in the 37th minute, Lee had a successful PSG debut, completing 88 per cent of his passes (52/59), creating one chance, taking three shots and winning 75 per cent of his dribbles (3/4).

“The South Korean gem played to his strengths on his debut at the Parc des Princes,” said French media outlets, “Very active on both sides of the attack, Lee’s acceleration and ability to take risks made him the catalyst of PSG’s opening game. His dribbling ability, which went largely unnoticed tonight, deserves to be utilised more in the future.”

If he can convince Enrique with his performances, there is every chance he could link up with Mbappe up front and in midfield after Silva’s arrival.

It’s also worth noting that Man City have recently made it clear that they will keep Silva if he rejects their offer, and Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal have also been pursuing him, so it’s not clear that he’s a lock to join PSG.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time Mbappe has been linked with a move to a club.

When Mbappe signed a new contract with PSG last year, he also asked the club to sign a player of his choice, only to be turned down. “Mbappe has been furious with PSG since August: he wanted Robert Lewandowski to join and Neymar to leave, but the deals were not honoured and he announced his departure,” said French outlet Le Parisien at the time, revealing that Mbappe had direct influence and input into the signings and departures of players.

There were also rumours that he had handed the PSG president a list of targets. According to French outlet RMC Sport, Mbappe reportedly presented the club with a list of four strikers for 2022. The list reportedly included Lewandowski, Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Ousmane Dembele and Gianluca Scamacca (Atalanta).

Of these, Dembele joined PSG in the summer transfer window, so Mbappe is likely to be happy. However, Mbappe has been pushing hard for the signing of Silva this summer, so it will be interesting to see if PSG are willing to splash the cash on him to keep him happy.

With Lee Kang-In, who was expected to benefit from the departure of the team’s ace, once again facing increased competition for places due to the potential arrival of an unexpected rival, many football fans will be keen to see if he can play a part in Mbappe’s desired squad next season.
